The United States adapter reads EIA-860M, the U.S. Energy Information Administration's monthly inventory of planned and existing electric generators, and is implemented and live-schema verified today. What is missing is everything downstream of a working reader: a production import, canaries and an independent scorecard.
What EIA-860M is
It is a federal survey, published on a monthly cycle, of generating units at every stage from planned through operating — fuel type, nameplate capacity, status and expected in-service date. Because it is a government survey rather than a voluntary announcement feed, it captures planned capacity that a press-release-based source would miss entirely until construction is already visible.
Why "schema-verified" is not "paid-ready"
The adapter correctly parses the current EIA-860M schema and maps it onto our field vocabulary — that is what "live-schema verified" means on the coverage page. It has not yet gone through a production import at scale, has no canary history, and has no published accuracy scorecard. All three are required before US checkout opens, the same bar applied to every geography here, including the United Kingdom.
What this means if you are asking today
There is no US pricing, no US scorecard and no US row count published anywhere on this site, because none exist yet. The honest answer to "when" is: when the production import, canary run and independent evaluation are done, not before — and the live state is always on the console rather than a projected date here.
EIA-860M sits in the same power and grid sector class as GB's TEC register and Brazil's ANEEL SIGA adapter — all three are generation or connection registers, not procurement sources, so the same package-level gap noted for Brazil applies here too, and will need the same kind of source-by-source expansion to close.
What a generator inventory can and cannot tell you
EIA-860M is strong on the facts a regulator needs to track: fuel type, nameplate capacity, interconnection point and status. It is not a procurement register, so it will not name the EPC contractor, the equipment vendor or the package-level scope a services firm would use to size a bid. Reaching that depth for the United States would need the same source-by- source expansion GB is going through today, layered on top of the generator inventory rather than replacing it.
Why the monthly cadence matters
EIA-860M exists alongside the EIA's larger annual 860 survey specifically because construction timing moves faster than an annual cycle can track. A monthly release means a newly announced generator, or a status change on one already filed, shows up within weeks rather than up to a year later — which matters for a tracking use case built around detecting a schedule slip as it happens rather than reconstructing it after the fact from an annual snapshot.
The trade-off is scope: the monthly release favours currency over the fuller operating detail carried in the annual 860 forms, so a production US adapter will likely need to reconcile both cadences rather than read the monthly file alone. That reconciliation work has not started; it is listed here so nobody mistakes "schema-verified" for "final design."
